Fall Wardrobe Favorites!

Updated: Sep 28, 2019

First off - Happy Fall ya'll!!

While I do LOVE summer in the northwest, there are very few things compare to the colorful, snuggly magic that is autumn.

It's nature's transition time, which is also my cue to start subbing warmer colors and longer layers into my wardrobe.

Because Josh and I have been living in Hawai'i for the last 10 years (26 for him!), my cold weather wardrobe is essentially the same as it was when I lived here last... in high school!! Needless to say, I needed an overhaul.

Off to my Mecca, I mean Nordstrom, we go!

I must have been in that dressing room for over an hour, but I came out with some AMAZING pieces that I know can transition seamlessly into both fall and winter!

Here we go, ya'll! I'm sharing all the chunky sweaters and cozy layers that I'll be living in this next season...

For organization purposes, here's everything that came home on this last Nordy's haul!

First up, this orange sweater, because oh my gosh. I felt like a million bucks in this sweater. Josh and I went to Redmond Bar & Grill for lunch (great specials, btw!), and before I even got inside the building a woman walking towards me literally turned a corner, and popped her head back around to tell me "Your sweater is AMAZING!!!"

It's the perfect weight, runs true to size (wearing size XS/0-2), and is definitely more orange than the color name "brown" leads on, but in no way is it crazy bright.

Next up is this gem, which caught my eye the second I walked off the escalator. I like oversize sweaters, but I'm not a fan of swimming in them. It just get's too complicated; eating, writing, everything. I could instantly tell this would be an oversized/slouchy look & feel, but without the excess fabric - and that's exactly what I got! This guy is a bit heavier knit than the previous, and also runs TTS (wearing an XS).

This is actually my second buy of this sweater. I bought a deep royal purple one over summer during the anniversary sale, and love the fit. When I saw this color on clearance, it was a pretty quick "Hell yeah!" Its a bit on the shorter side, so if you have an extra long torso or are wanting to wear it with a pant that sits lower, you may consider sizing up, but just keep in mind the sleeves are already fairly baggy. I'm wearing an XS, and still able to french tuck it. ;)

Now for the pants...

The first pair of button fly, light wash, stretch denim I bought is featured in the two photos above. Let me just say, these don't give you the horrible feeling in the middle of your gut that some high waist jeans do. I would liken the stretch in both pairs of jeans to that of lululemon pants. You know how as you workout in (or wear, for many of us!) your lululemons, they will relax, but they never lose their shape like a regular pair of cotton leggings would? Same deal here.

I used to hate real stretchy denim because I thought it looked like jeggings. Not even sorry about it, because it's the truth. I became a denim snob and stuck pretty religiously to 7s, Citizens, and Hudson. While I still do love them all... these beauties are half the price, suuuper comfy, and have no branding on them whatsoever... Seems like a win to me!!

The last pair was one of my absolute faves! A jet black, true flare. And here's the most important thing for me: even though they're stretchy, the fabric around the knee doesn't get baggy. These keep their shape, suck you in in all the right places, and look great with a classic heel. They even come in two lengths, which is SO great for us shorties (30"L for me)! Remember you want the jeans to just skim the floor with heels on - otherwise you'll tear up the bottom, or worse, your heel will get stuck and you might eat shit. Haha, it's almost happened!

I typically wear a 25 in most designer jeans, but in both of these pairs I went with a 26 (tag says 'Fits like 25-26'). Surprisingly, these jeans are not made in size 27 (and maybe 29 as well). I'm sure they have a reason, but don't waste your time searching for it. ;)

I'm sure some of you noticed that there is one more sweater and two tanks in the first picture that are not addressed in this post. Once I wear them, I will be sure to review in another post!

Because we're getting ready for the Seattle rain, I'm gearing up for boot season!

I'm curious to know where you all are from, and what fall weather looks like there. Drop a comment below to share a bit about your hometown, and maybe even a photo of your go-to style favorites for fall! XO
