My Favorite Cocktail Recipes

I found some strawberries in my fridge that (I totally forgot) we bought at Costco last weekend and had to get to using them! Margaritas came to mind first, and so here we are!

The best part about throwing these into the blender is that I could use the berries that were staring to turn and just a bit too soft for what I'd prefer to munch on. Plus, who doesn't want a strawberry margarita at 2pm on a Sunday in quarantine?

I like to keep my cocktails pretty simple, and try to cut sugar where I can. Here are my approximate recipes (I don't measure anything) and the tips and tricks I've discovered along the way! Feel free to adjust to your taste/preference.

Note: I am NOT a professional bartender.

MARGARITA

-fill the cup with ice

-pour tequila (about 3 fingers high)

-add about the same amount of margarita mix (glass should be about 2/3 full)

-top with water, or sparkling/flavored water of choice

*If blending, pour all ingredients into blender before adding water, and add more ice instead. **Optional: add fresh fruit, cayenne, li hing, Tajin or rim the glass

MULE

-in a copper mug, begin with sweetener, about the same amount you'd use for a cup of coffee (I prefer agave or stevia)

-pour vodka, tequila, or whiskey about 1 finger high

-squeeze 2-3 lime wedges

-fill about 2/3 full with ginger beer

-top with ice

MOJITO

-muddle fresh mint with a little sweetener, 2-3 lime wedges, and a few ice cubes

-add vodka, rum, or tequila until glass is about 1/3 full

-add lemon-lime soda/sparkling water

-top with ice and a fresh lime wedge

LEMON DROP

-start by rimming a martini glass with a lemon wedge and dipping it into granulated sugar

-in a shaker cup, add about 3 oz lemon juice, 2 oz vodka, and 1 oz simple syrup with ice

-shake and strain into rimmed glass

CHEERS!!
